Tonight I caught this very interesting story on ABC by chance. I’m disappointed that I have never heard the tale of this man before. If I had learnt it as a child I’m sure that I would have found it captivating. This story would be well worth teaching children as it would surly capture their interest and help shape a positive and informed view of Australian Aboriginal culture. Australian history and Aboriginal culture was certainly something that I was taught far too little of in school; I hope this situation has changed. This was certainly not the first time I have seen a program like this and been annoyed that I hadn’t already known about what I see as a key event in our history.

The program closed mentioning that many Aboriginals viewed William Buckley as a traitor. I feel that this is an unfortunate view. I would take the aproach that he wasn’t intentionally a traitor, he was simply doing what it took to survive. Certainly Buckley is an important part of our shared history, well worth recognition for how he took to the Aboriginal way of life.

Huge improvements to the twitter feed formatting. users, hashtags and URLs all properly converted into links. This is safe for items that have been shortened by Twitter. Additionally built in templates can’t be edited in preparation for some great new features.

Some improvements:

Safe for servers that don’t fully support the plugin as it simply wont be included and they will get a friendly error message below the activated plugin in their plugins administration screen telling them exactly what to ask their server’s administrator.
More descriptive error messages in place of widget if a feed goes bad.
New Twitter template.

I have updated the plugin to now test the validity of your feeds. If a feed is not valid you can’t use it. Additionally there are protective mesaures in case a feed becomes invalid at a latter time.

Plugin Update: List Installed Plugins, Version 1.4

The plugin has had a minor update to include links for the plugin and it’s author in the provided templates. If you want you xsl template to be updated simply clear it in the LIP Options page and the new default will be restored.

Plugin Update: List Installed Plugins, Version 1.2

List installed plugins has been given a refresh for the new version of WordPress.

For the end user the plugins list now links to the plugin page and author page as supplied by any plugin’s author.

On the administration side the settings page has been updated for the new look administration in WordPress 2.6.

On the customization front I have added new fields to the XML used for XSLT. See the FAQ Page on the link below for a complete list of XML fields.

Windows Update – Updates Not Installed – 0×80004002

Firstly if you have problems with Windows Update first thing to do is check your WindowsUpdate.log file. This file is found in your windows folder, usually “c:\WINDOWS”.

I keep having this happen, its a real pain in the arse! So I post this mostly for my own quick reference. This is actually to fix this and another similar problem I keep running into, I figure if you do both you don’t have to waste time looking up the error in WindowsUpdate.log.

To fix it:

Close Internet Explorer
Click [Start]
Click [Run]
Type “cmd” [Hit Enter]
Type “net stop wuauserv” [Hit Enter]
Type “rmdir /s %windir%\softwaredistribution\wuredir” [Hit Enter]
Type each of the following one line at a time ([Hit Enter] after each):
- Regsvr32 msxml3.dll
- Regsvr32 wuapi.dll
- Regsvr32 wuaueng.dll
- Regsvr32 wucltui.dll
- Regsvr32 wups.dll
- Regsvr32 wuweb.dll
- Regsvr32 qmgr.dll
- Regsvr32 qmgrprxy.dll
- Regsvr32 jscript.dll
Type “net start wuauserv” [Hit Enter]

Alternatively paste the following in two chunks into the Command Prompt ([Right Click] and select [Paste])

net stop wuauserv rmdir /s %windir%\softwaredistribution\wuredir
Then
Regsvr32 msxml3.dll Regsvr32 wuapi.dll Regsvr32 wuaueng.dll Regsvr32 wucltui.dll Regsvr32 wups.dll Regsvr32 wuweb.dll Regsvr32 qmgr.dll Regsvr32 qmgrprxy.dll Regsvr32 jscript.dll net start wuauserv

Alternatively if this doesn’t work try reinstalling the update agent. This can be downloaded via Microsoft Help and Support: 949104. (Direct Link for x86)
